CARO is envisaged to provide support to Research, Innovation and Development activities in AAI which will include but not be limited to the following areas / activities:

Airspace and Airport related Safety, Capacity and Efficiency improvement programs considering the Growth in Air Traffic with focus on

Addressing the major airspace challenges arising due to anticipated growth in UAS operations, aircraft operations and space tourism

Addressing the major airport infrastructure challenges with focus on enhancing airport throughput

Developing technologies and products in identified fields for the futuristic airspace/airport needs

Development and use of computer based Modelling and Simulation techniques/tools for the concept design and development, operation, enhancement of ANS and Airports related procedures / processes / systems and emerging technologies.

Conducting studies and addressing problems/challenges of ANS/Airports with regard to current operational procedures / practices and processes.

Improvement in Airport Infrastructure

Establishing Data Centre to support ANS / Airport performance measurement and Aviation related modelling and research

Improving availability, reliability and safety of Airport/ANS Equipment and systems.

Developing comprehensive User requirements for ANS/Airport systems using scientific methods/user needs analysis/emerging technologies survey and research on existing system deficiencies

Addressing Interoperability issues of ANS/Airport Systems

Conducting studies for Reduction in environmental impact with introduction of new technology/procedures or improving existing procedures/systems efficiency.

Conducting studies to improve utilisation of manpower / stress and fatigue management/mitigation techniques.
