CARO foundation

In 2018, the board of Airports Authority of India approved the proposal to construct a World class building and other associated infrastructure to house CARO (Civil Aviation Research Organization).

The CARO complex is coming up in a parcel of land within the premises of Begumpet Airport, Hyderabad. CARO will support research and innovation in the fields of Air Traffic Management, Communication Navigation & Surveillance, Airport Operations and Engineering.

CARO will provide a platform for both in-house and collaborative research. The Centre will have a host of well-connected research laboratories and tools for collaborative research with Academia/Industry and Aviation stakeholders.

CARO will

  • Provide world class and well-connected research infrastructure for promoting innovative research
  • Usher in advanced technologies by investing in Simulator/Lab facilities and other infrastructure
  • Promote collaboration with other Government and Private organizations in the country to leverage their expertise and skills to compliment in-house research.
  • Promote co-development with established international organizations for technology acquisition where no indigenous capability exists.
  • Facilitate Industry-Institution tie-up in areas of research of new Technology/Process/Product/Concepts.
  • Envisaged to provide encouraging environment and resources for potential start-ups and innovators to carry out research and support aviation
  • Develop indigenous technologies and products to minimize external dependency, overcome technology denials and support country’s ANS strategic plans
  • Promote and disseminate R&D activities by establishing fool-proof documentation system for in-house research activities and publication of research papers.
